Hi guys! Just an update from our online conference last September 26th. We started an online fellowship wherein we can also share God's words to each other. (Siyempre, hindi rin mawawala ang mga kulitan at tawanan.) It is being held once a month (every last Saturday). Hopefully more PK's can (or “will”) attend next time.
The topic chosen was based on the present FB (Facebook) craze on the internet. Radically, we came to the thought of a PK Facebook style of discussion, whereas, Bible character profiles will be our targets... parang "Add as a Friend" =D At this point, it's Prophet Daniel.
Isn’t that cool? At least for me, it is! =D But actually, the idea of FB style was adopted from our ka-berkz from Buhangin Community Church (BCC), Davao City. (Thanks BCC!) Pero siyempre kelangan nating budburan ng PK spices and ingredients para mas malinamnam. ;)
Kuya Gen dared the possible and shared the following:
New Friend Request to: Prophet Daniel
Theme: The Daniel Paradigm
Context: Prophet Daniel—“one of the few men in the Bible whom God says nothing negative.” (excerpt from John C. Maxwell’s commentary)
Retrospective crunch: If I were Daniel, what kind of PK/Person would I be? Who is he? What can be learned of him?
Intro: The word "paradigm" in its simplest form means "pattern" or "example". (according to the dictionary).
1. Paradigm of The Intimate-Prayer Warrior (Dan. 2:17-19; 9:1-23). Daniel never makes a step on his own. He consults God in every decision. This kind of dependence can't transpire without intimacy. I believe that it is impossible to be intimate with God without prayer. Daniel does not pray ordinarily because everytime he prays, he knows that he is at war. Prayer is a weapon that works in the supernatural battles and creates its impact on the natural.
*** PK = Prayer Kid (quoted from cbox =D)
2. Paradigm of the The Faith Heir (Dan. 1:23; 12:13). If you have faith, then where did it come from? Basically as PK's, we must inherit our parent's faith in Jesus. Daniel got it primarily from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And the faith that he inherited from his ancestors (bloodline/faithline) has saved him and birthed the power, protection, and excellence (Dan. 1:19) in him.
As PK's, we may not inherit material things from our parents but above all else, may we eagerly and vigilantly capture their faith and passion in serving the Lord. Let's aim our eyes and hearts to eternal things and not those that will perish. A faith strongly founded in God is a leap to eternity. Let's not miss our inheritance from our parents, dear PK's =)
*** Hmmmm... some may think of their parents' faith as shallow but may we also consider the brighter sides of the cube. One of the 10 Commandments and the book of Proverbs commands us to honor and obey our parents. We will respect and listen to them not because of their strengths or weaknesses, but because it is our own expression of worship to God. To those who have imperfect parents, like me, let's add more years to our life (and to their’s, too)--let's learn to love and honor our parents, by the grace of God.
3. Paradigm of the Eunuch Commitment (Daniel 1:4-19). What “kind” of commitment does a king require from a servant? Certainly, it is a commitment that can deprive someone of his own pleasures, to offer his full service to his master. A "eunuch" is “a castrated man placed in charge of a harem or employed as a chamberlain in a palace." (from the dictionary) Daniel is a eunuch, which means that the king can entrust even his household to him. To “castrate” is to deprive a man of his testes (or, a woman of his ovaries). Daniel denied his ambition to have his own wife and family for the sake of serving the kings. He was able to render such a commitment because, first of all, the word "commitment" was defined thru his personal relationship and deep devotion with God. Meaning, his commitment to the kings is but an outflow of his commitment to God.
How can a PK render such a commitment? I believe it takes a period of preparation; a preparation initiated from a consistent and intimate walk with God. And I think it’s good to start committing to God with this verse in mind:
“He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me, you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). If we desire fruitfulness, then first we come to God and commit our entire life to Him, in Christ Jesus.
Commitment is intentional, complete surrender to God is a must.
"…from everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." -Luke 12:48
PK's are given much, where shall we commit it to? If not to God, then life is a desolate cause.
4. Paradigm of the Royalty Magnet (Daniel 2:46-49; 5:7,29; 6:1-3). Well, this is actually the fruit of the first 3 paradigms (above). In his lifetime, Daniel served 3 kings (Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius) and to all of them, he has found favor. No matter where he is, they always come looking after him as if the rewards get magnetized towards him. High ranks and riches chased him because he first chased the Ultimate Source of everything---his God.
A PK is born with a natural prestige/fame. Should we blame our parents? Is it a blessing or a curse? I believe it will depend on what you do with it.
God rewards us because that is His nature. We, as humans, may forget the good things that we have done. But to Him, not one is taken for granted.
John C. Maxwell noted, “A gift may take a leader to the top, but humility enables him to endure.” Royalty is good but it can be a shortcut to one’s downfall. What is royalty if it’s no longer directed to God? What is fame if it only brings praise one’s self? What is a blessing if it isn’t meant to be shared?
May Christ be our righteousness, His salvation our crown. Let us worship His Majesty for it opens the windows to [royalty].
Ending words…
May Daniel’s life be a living influence to us (PK’s), as we grow deeper and higher to the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Lord, by the grace and mercies of God our Father in Heaven.
